Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 6 tbsp butter


For the Toppings:

  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 pcs. eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp confectioner’s sugar (for dusting)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 C).
  2. Grease an 8×8 inch square pan.
  3. In a medium bowl, cream together 6 tablespoons of butter and 1/3 cup sugar until smooth.
  4. Stir in flour and walnuts. Press into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes in the preheated oven.
  6. To make the topping, beat 2 tablespoons of butter, water, cocoa, 1/2 cup sugar, eggs, vanilla, and salt together in a medium bowl until smooth and shiny.
  7. Spread evenly onto the baked crust.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until set.
  9. Dust with confectioner’s sugar and cut into 24 bars when cool.
  10. Best served chilled.
